TEAM BONDING.
One of the best parts about playing lacrosse at USF is being in Tampa—there’s always something fun to do, and that makes team bonding even better.
Olympic Teams
Our first team bonding event during our exhibition year was bowling at Splitsville in 2023. That’s also when we launched our Olympic Teams:
There are four teams: Boss Bunch (my team), Stampede, Incredibulls, and Lightning Bulls
We each created a name, chant, and team identity that still lives on
Points are earned all year through:
Practice “pingers” (hitting the crossbar)
Winning competitions
Convincing Coach McCord (the official point-giver) to reward us
At the end of the year, the team with the most points wins a special dinner and dessert
Let’s be honest—Boss Bunch is the loudest, most obnoxious, and obviously the best. The competition gets real, and each team definitely has its own personality.
Other Bonding Activities
We’ve had so many memorable experiences together outside of lacrosse:
Beach lacrosse days and trips to The Lagoon water park
Going to Amalie Arena for concerts and pro sports (SZA was a favorite!)
Supporting other USF teams at games on campus
Exploring Tampa’s Hyde Park farmers market (last Sunday of each month)
Traditions & Spontaneous Fun
Some of the best bonding happens organically. A few team favorites:
“Dip Tour” – each house makes a dip and we all go around taste-testing and voting on the best one
Party Bus to USF Football vs. Miami – one of our most unforgettable team days
Trying out new coffee shops around Tampa for “productive” hangouts
Whether we’re competing for Olympic points or just hanging out, these moments bring us closer and create a team culture that feels like family. Tampa’s energy and opportunities have made bonding easy—and unforgettable.
