Discipline: The Best Addiction
My off-season training schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday on—with Thursday and Sunday off. I typically work out in the afternoons.
Today, other obligations meant the only time I could train was 9:45 pm.
On the way home from dinner, I saw a Joe Rogan IG post featuring an interview with Khabib Nurmagomedov talking about discipline.
Here’s my recap of what Khabib said:
Everyone is addicted to something—winners are addicted to discipline.
Winners are addicted to early wake-ups.
Winners are addicted to training.
Winners are addicted to silence.
Discipline doesn’t need motivation.
Discipline moves without feelings.
Discipline says “I go” when tired.
Discipline says “I go” when lonely.
Discipline is the best addiction.
You want a strong life? Discipline builds it.
You want peace? Discipline protects it.
You want respect? Discipline earns it.
No shortcuts. No excuses. No blame. No crying. Only work.
Better life? Better habits.
Discipline every day—until discipline becomes you.
In the original interview, Khabib referred to “man,” but I want to be clear—this is not exclusive to men. Every word applies to women, too. The more of us who find our power and have the confidence to show it, the louder our collective voice will be.
Discipline is the best addiction—and I choose to be a winner. What’s your addiction, and who do you want to be?
